Everything you did at the office, on one floor

See who's around, walk over, and talk. When you need quiet, sit at a focus desk and nobody can reach you.

Walk up and talk

Get within 3 tiles of someone and your voices connect. The closer you are, the louder they sound. Move away and it goes quiet. No links, no scheduling.

Knock before you interrupt

Not sure if now is a good time? Knock and add a short note. If they accept, you both move to a private booth. If not, they can tap "Later".

Meet in a closed room

Meeting rooms work like a video call: everyone in the room hears each other, with camera, screen share, and room chat. Nothing leaks outside.

Per-seat pricing grows with your team. Ours doesn't.

Most teams end up paying for people who only drop in now and then. Hotori charges per space, so inviting one more person costs nothing.

$10 per person is an example for comparison, not any specific product.

Made in Tokyo by a small team

Hotori (ほとり) is a Japanese word for the edge of the water: the quiet spot by a lake or river where people end up talking.

That's what we built: pixel-art floors with a lounge, a terrace, and a Japanese room, where your team can bump into each other again. We don't have a sales team, so we can't call you. We don't save your voice, video, or chat, and we don't watch how you work.

Questions

Is this the kind of "virtual office" that gives you a mailing address?

No. Hotori is a place for a remote team to gather on one shared floor and talk by voice. It has nothing to do with mailing addresses or phone numbers.

What can I do during the 30-day free trial?

Everything in the paid plans, for up to 50 people at once, with no card. Nothing is charged when the trial ends. After 30 days, your space pauses until you pick a plan.

How do you count people?

By the number of people in the space at the same time. There is no limit on how many members you can register. Guests count while they are inside.

What happens if we go over the limit?

Up to 2 extra people can still get in. Beyond that, people see a "full" message (the owner can always enter). If that happens often, choose Business (up to 50 at once) over Standard (up to 25).

Can people outside the company join?

Yes. Send a guest invite link that expires in 1 to 30 days. You can also add a password.

Do you record conversations?

No. Voice, video, and chat are not saved on our servers, and there is no recording feature. Voice and video only reach people nearby, or people in the same meeting room.

What do I need to get started?

A computer with a browser, plus a Google account or an email address. Nothing to install. You will need a mic and headphones or speakers to talk. Check your setup if you are not sure.

Does it work on phones?

For now, Hotori is designed for computer browsers. We are still testing phones.

Where are your servers?

In Japan. Voice works best in Japan, across Asia-Pacific, and on the West Coast of North America. The farther you are, the more delay you may notice.

Is it available in Europe?

Not yet. We are not offering Hotori in the EU, the EEA, or the UK for now.

How do I reach you?

By email. We aim to reply by the next business day in Japan. We have no phone line and no sales team, so nobody will call you.

How do cancellation and refunds work?

The owner can cancel any time from the billing page, and the space stays usable until the end of the paid period. See the Terms of Service for refunds.
